I have a 20 Gig HD, and use only a little over 7 for my present needs. I wanted to partition my drive to allow for nominal expansion up to 10 Gigs for the first partition, and about 7 for a second primary partition leaving the rest unused.

The reason is my present Win98SE has been giving me probems - with frequent "--performed and illegal --- and will be shut down." - even when I have done nothing. It even happens immediately upon boot-up.

Rather than go through the pains of re-formattinb - something I did about six months ago, and have not fully recovered yet - I though I would create the second partition, load a second Win98, and use it for all of my more importtant chores, and possibly just forget the first partition.

I loaded PM, and BM, and created the desired partitions, but BM's screen choice of WIN98, or WIN98A gives me the same full content as was in my unpartitioned C: drive. In other words, it does not appear to see an empty partition, which I think I have (the second partition). I have named them WIN98 and WIN98A.

How do I get rid of the content on WIN98A and give me an empty partition where I can load the OP and start loading other Apps?

I had done this on my previous (prior to the re-formatting) with 98 on the first partition, and 95 on the second.

I tend to think I must somehow reconfigure BM, but do not know how to do it without the risk of destroying data on my existing system.

    Any help will be appreciated.

Use PM and format the win98a drive.

Thanks, Bill, for your reply. I have "muscled" my way to at least get a VGA view of Win98 on the second partition, and now must go through the painfull process of getting 98 (touted "back then" as offering true plug and play) to recognize my various hardware items such as modem, scanner, printer, audio care, video card, etc.

This is almost as bad as re-formatting - which, as I stated earlier - is no fun.

I may need further help, as I traipse this trail, so check in once in a while. I will post my status when appropriate.

    Thanks, again.
