Several days ago I went into my sent folder in Outlook Express 6 and spent an hour manually deleting sent messages that had built up over several years. I deleted everything before January 2008. Now I have noticed that both the Sent folder and Deleted folder empty themselves daily. :( Every time I check both of them the only messages in there are those from the present date. I never close the program and have checked and saved the "save copies of sent mail" box in the options section of tools several times. Can I delete and recreate these folders to rectify the problem or do I have to reinstall outlook express totally? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

Yes - if you delete the FILES called Sent Items.dbx and Deleted Items.dbx - they will get re-created next time you open OE and or send or delete a new mail.

From a Private Message that should have been posted here for all to see:

Double check the "save sent mail" option AND the Empty the delete folder when you exit OE.
