The most likely cause of the error message is that you have a SATA hard drive for which XP does not have the drivers. You need to load the drivers at F6 - from a floppy.

Given that you probably haven't a floppy drive see ....

Install Windows XP on SATA without a Floppy (F6)

Edit - I checked - the hard drive is SATA.

Dear luckyhce I came across this type of error: XP Cd can not "see" RAID controlled disks so what I did is set the BIOS to use IDE configuration. Access BIOS setup by pressing the right key (F10 for mine) on the [advanced] page look for [SATA Controller Mode] press enter and choose IDE. Save and exit. Your Xp Cd should now be able to "see" your drive.

    * Be careful not to change anything else on this page unless you are sure of what it does.

btw: Pete, your link loops back to this thread.

Good one too! But if one is to slipstream the SATA drivers, might as well slipstream the service packs, updates and any other drivers one's system might need too.

looks like luckyhce has forgot about his post...
Anyway I found the free app Driver Max to be a great help in backing up drivers to use in a slipstream or downgrade.
