I have a Gateway desktop and I would like to add wireless to it. Should I use a PCI card or just USB wireless? Looking for suggestions.

No. It's a desktop. I'm just not sure if there is a place for a PCI card inside the computer

Also how far is the Desktop away from the Wireless source?
    How many walls and obstructions?

Okay. My neighbor is allowing me to ride on his secured wireless connection. I'm using a laptop that I am renting from rent a center right now but I want to set up my desktop. The laptop has no problem connecting so my assumption is that the desktop (which I can see right now) won't either.

The page I linked to above has adapters that will get him connected a block away with their stock 2 dB antennas. Put a 5 or 7 dB on one of those and you can listen to the Shuttle astronauts snore.

I went to Best Buy and bought a Netgear Wireless-G USB Adapter and a USB Extension and it seems to work great. I asked them if they had The 5dbi boost antenna and they don't sell them anymore. I will go online to get one however. Thanks for the information. Oh, by the way, all of this only cost $50. Not bad.
