Just bought game for my computer, it won't open, WHY?

So I just bought this game, downloaded it and everything seemed good.
I clicked it and then the screen went black like it usually does when you open up those full screen games thennnnn it closed right away.

I tried taking a friends advice and changing the screen resolution but that didn't help at all.

My computers not the best it's Windows XP Pentium 4, yeah pretty old but I reboot it often there shouldn't be anything wrong with it?

Someone pleaseeee help!

 

What is the name of the game??
Also check game site / game author for "Minimum Requirements" to run game.

 

the game is "My Sims" and I have all the minimum requirements to play so that's not it

 

Can you run your computer as normal?
When you Downloaded the game, did you save to Desktop or Run?
Try and Boot to Safe Mode and see if you can run it from there.
