    Hi all,

One thing I liked about W7 was that in the SysTray there was a Show Desktop icon.

I know I can right-click the taskbar and click Show Desktop, and I know I can create a shortcut for Show Desktop (but putting a shortcut on the Desktop doesn't do any good), and I know I can put the shortcut in Quick Launch, and I know I can hit the Win key and "M" (or something).

However, I don't use Quick Launch and I don't want to hit keys. I want a "lazy man's one-click" solution "” if one exists.

What I'm looking to do is to put a Show Desktop icon in the SysTray so that when I click it the Desktop comes up and when I click it again, I'll be back to the window I was in\at\on.

    Doable?

Would you like some french fries or a nice hot apple pie to go with that order;)

What kind of luck have you had with your Google searches?

jpChris: Your not wanting to use Quick Launch eliminates the way I kept a Show Desktop icon handy in XP. I'm using Win 7 now, but I seem to remember something that might work for you. Create a Show Desktop icon on your Desktop and click to open it. That should produce a Desktop tab in your SysTray. Any time you click on it, there's your Desktop. The downside is that every time you shut down your computer you'll lose that tab.

Somebody else may offer a better idea.

    Hi sp3851,

Thank you! That was exactly what I was looking for. And, the best part is — it works!

    Hi Jan,
Uh, in a word: No. That's called organizing. What this thread addresses is when I have a lot of windows open and I need to get to the Desktop with a click instead of minimizing a bunch of windows to do it.

For you, create a new folder on your Desktop and name it XtraC**p, Holding, or a "?" or _____. Your choice. Then right-click drag the extra stuff to the folder and select "Move Here ".
