fresh install of win7 ultimate x64.

calling using Google talk or Skype (call but NOT chat) freezes windows after a short time. (same behavior in previous windows 7 x86)

no visible errors in event viewer

    any suggestions?

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

I would spend a lot of time looking through Skype's web site.

Approx how long can you go before it freezes?
Is this lenght of time pretty consistant?
Do you use any sleep mode or hibernate options?

    thanks.

since it happens with google talk too, i think this is a universal problem.

i am guessing it must be connected to microphone use as it only happens when using call feature (chat works fine on both)

Nope, I have been using Skype since the Windows 7 beta's and never experienced any problems.

I'd suggest updating your drivers & BIOS.

we seem to agree, it is not skype or Google chat, it must be something connected to the microphone?

my BIOS (and all other drivers) is the latest available :(

No problem with google talk. Use it with 4 or 5 different people. I am Win 7 and they are either, Win 7, Vista, XP (Home and Pro).
