    Simple.

    Right click on my computer
    Properties (left click)
    Advanced
    Startup and Recovery
    Settings
    Edit

    Now you should see this in the BOOT.INI file:

    [boot loader]
    timeout=5
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS= "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

    Note. The [operating systems] line if you have another line after the "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect" line delete this, this was your old/other OS.

    Save

    **WARNING** do not mess this up! As the BOOT.INI file is used in the boot process. The above is a copy of my computer with no changes after install.

    My primary drive is a ATA drive (disk (0)) OS installed on the first partition (partition (1)) of this drive so don't freak if your BOOT.INI is slightly different.

    mine was like this.............

    [boot loader]
    timeout=5
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW
    S
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS= "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS= "Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect

    and deleteing the "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS= "Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect" solved the problem.........now i boot right into xp np...........thx guys.
