    I'm considering exchanging my current graphics card (GeForce 8600GT) for one of the GTX cards. If I did so would I also need to change my motherboard and CPU?
    Thanks
    Motherboard:- AsRock G31M-GS
    CPU:- Dual Core E5300@2.60GHz

    I don't know Steve. Im not sure whether an upgrade of one component is ok without upgrading the whole package. I've looked already at that overview, but I'm afraid it's all gobbledegook to me.

    Your mobo has-> 1 x PCI Express x16 slot
    which where a person would install a video card after taking the current one out.

    You do NOT need to purchase a new mothboard if you ONLY want a different video card.
