    Hi all,

Lately XP has been having Senior Moments and folders won't remember their View settings.

I've tweaked the registry years ago to 10000 and I've never had a problem "” until lately.

I'll set the view to what I want and sometimes when I close out and reopen, it's back to the way it was. Other times it takes a reboot for it to forget the view settings.

The only thing I remember installing before this started happening is ATFCleaner. And even when I don't use it, it still happens.

    Ideas?

    Hi pcc,

Thanks for the refs, but I'm good in those areas. I've had (like I said) the Bags & BagsMRU set to 10000 for years and years. That and regopen.vbs (where the registry always opens collapsed) are two of the earliest tweaks I made.

As far as the reg link, I downloaded it and checked out the lines and compared it to what's in the registry now and there's almost no difference in values.

I fixed it — I think. What I did was go into the folders that were giving me problems and deleted the thumbs.db file. It appears to have worked.

    I spoke too soon.

OK, I "think" I've found where the problem is. Whenever I open Windows Explorer and click on anything in my C, D, or E partitions, one or two folders on the Desktop that are set to view as Icons and a resized window, get reset to Details and a Maximized window.

It's only these one or two that get reset. Plus, there's no Thumbs.db file to delete and restore. One folder is Games (it has shortcuts to my games and it has a Desktop.ini file in it "” which contains info on the icon I used for the folder, but no thumbs.db file), and the second one is a shortcut to Control Panel I have in the MSOffice Shortcut Toolbar.

    Ideas?
