    Hi,

    I am facing problem in word 2007 file, i am not able to open linked document it is giving me error message " The program used to create this object is msxml2. That program is not installed on your computer . To edit this object you must install a program that can open the object.

    I have received this docx file through mail.The source file is opening i.e docx file but the linked word 2007 file is not opening

    Office 2007 is installed on my system
    OS is windows xp

    Action Taken by me: Installed all the updates of office 2007 but still i am facing the same problem

    Do you also have the LINKED document or maybe you don't and therefore can't open it as the error states?

    Hi steve,

    Yes i have the linked document but i cant say linked document i mean to say it's attached in the source document.

    In word 2007 insert->object->Create new or create from file two tabs are displaying. If we select create from file then we have to select the path.In create from file tab two more options are there 1 Link to file 2 Display an icon.Link file is not checked only display an icon is checked.

    Have you checked that you have msxml on your computer - search for msxml*.*. My guess is that you have, but I did see in one MS article that msxml2 is no longer supported by MS.

    The latest is ......

    MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2

    But as I said elsewhere Word at this depth is completely foreign to me.

    Hi Pete,

    I have installed same software MSXML2 SP2 but still i am not able to open the docx file
