I can't connect to the internet, either, on Vista laptop

I have three computers on a wireless router, two of them laptops. I have no problem with the desktop and my HP laptop, but I have a Toshiba that I am trying to fix that will not connect to the internet... I cleared it of malware and a couple viruses, and posted my HijackThis log and Malwarebytes log on the Malwarebytes site, and was told that my problem is not malware/viruses, but they couldn't help further.
The Toshiba is a Satellite A305D, running Vista Home Premium, SP1, 32-bit OS.
The problem is that I cannot connect to the internet, through either IE8 or Firefox. When I run diagnostics it says everything is working. I did a DNS flush, didn't help. I ran ipconfig and I can see only the IPv6 address and link-local IPv6 are not the same as they are on my HP, which is connecting (there is no DNS suffix or Default Gateway). Are they supposed to be the same? If so, how do I do that? If not, then please help me figure out what is wrong? Thank you in advance.

well... I had my answer all written out and then I was logged out... I will try again. I read up on that site you referred me to but since I am not network-savvy it did not help me much. I am assuming that the IPv6 addresses should be the same on both laptops, but I do not know how to use the netsh tool to do it. Everything else is checked to automatically configure the network (if that makes sense). Is making the IPv6 addresses the same going to do it or is there something else I should be looking at? I have just reset the router in the hopes that would do it, but no such luck. Still hoping that this will be a simple fix...(weak grin).

 

Nevermind. Friend took computer back... wished him best of luck, and I guess he will have to pay someone to fix it. Sorry to have wasted your time. This is a good place for knowledge, and I have learned a lot from you all, thank you for all of your help.

One thing to remember
When connecting 2 computers to a router or 3 - each one must have a serperate IP Address. If one has 10.0.0.1 then the next can have 10.0.0.2
The Subnet Mask and Default Gateway must be the Same on both
It is usually assigned by the router.
