    Hi folks,

    Virtualization software - KVM
    Host - Debian5.0 Linux
    Guest/client - Vista Ultimate

After installation completed Vista works nicely except without sound and the mouse points not easy to control, jerking.

Then I ran update. After finish sound came back. But browsing YouTube or online video sound is jumping. Mousing pointer is still jerking

Please advise how to fix the problem. TIA

Is the problem in the Host or the Guest?

    Hi Steve,

I think this should be the problem of the Guest, Vista. I have 4G RAM on board which is the max RAM able to be detected by Vista.

The Host is working properly on sound. It is a workstation for running the virtualization software, KVM, only. Also I have other Linux Guests on this Virtual Machine. They are working fine and can run simultaneously. While Vista is running I close all other guests. There is no software other than IE-8 running on Vista. Also there is no software other than the virtualization software, KVM, running on the Host.

I wonder whether I haven't config Vista properly.

Did you install the Chipset/video card/USB drivers for the mobo?

Virtualization software use very generic drivers...Where as Windows needs the specific drivers for each device.

    Hi Steve,

I'm now trying to sort out the problems below.

    1)
This box was built before the birth of Vista running Asus M2N-E mobo. I have no idea where I put the CD coming with the mobo. Even I find the CD. I don't think there are drivers for Vista.

    2)
There is only one CD drive on this box. I can't change CD during installation to install drivers. I must install the later after installation completed.

Have you had any idea where can I download the respective drivers particularly the USB driver. TIA Otherwise if I can't find them on Asus website I have to google the Internet to find them. The USB driver is very import because I'm going to install iTunes9 to upload files to my IPhone/Ipod. Now IPhone can be detected by the host automatically after plugin. But it can't be detected by the Guest, Vista. Do you have any idea to solve this problem?

I can mount the IPhone/Ipod on the host running Open Source software to upload files to IPhone/Ipod. But IPhone/Ipod is locked/encrypted deliberately by Apple. Therefore files upload can't be read. There are ways on Internet to unlock/decrypt IPhone/Ipod. But in doing so it will waive the warranty. iTunes-8 can run on Linux via wine to upload files to IPhone/Ipod. But iTunes-9, the latest version, can't work properly on wine with some features broken. That is Apple's intention to make it in this way. I think very soon this problem will be solved in Open Source.

    TIA
