OE 6 takes too long, usually times out, in the 'authorize' step before my new emails are listed. This happens at the end of the day, especially if the computer has not been used for sometime. Things work fine at the beginning of the day and as long as I'm using the computer without any 'rest' breaks. I'm using IE 8 with Win XP Home Ed. Could IE 8 have anything to do with this? I'm don't remember if this happened when I was using IE 7. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

I would be willing to bet that you network adaptor is going in sleep/power saving move.

You can go into Device Manager->Net Work adaptor->Properties and disable the "feature. "

Thanks for your suggestion, but I don't see how I can cancel the feature when I use the Device Manager etc as you suggested. When I open Network Adpter/ Properties...I can't see anything there that I can use to disable the feature. Maybe I'm not doing the right thing?

OK I found it...I have a different name on the adpter, but it has the same categories listed and I removed the check mark and now the power shouldn't be turned off. I'll find out later in the day if it does the trick. Thanks for your screenshot...this definately proves that a picture IS worth a thousand words!!!

I actually begged and pleaded with Microsoft to set the default option to OFF.

I didn't peg nor plead but I did a ton of mail with them and never got the point accross that it affects 1 in 200 people. (made up number)
