    Hi Folks,

How do I disable annoying sounds when I open Web Pages. Sometimes it is almost like a "Drum Roll" with different items opening on the site.

I have disabled almost everything in (Control Panel/Sounds) also in Internet Explorer under Options/Advanced/Multimedia (Play animations-sounds video etc! )

I can't think of anywhere else to check. These are electronic sounds a little bit like listening to an "Arcade Video Game "

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Sweep.

Click on START - SETTINGS - CONTROL PANEL and then double-click on Sounds. Load "Windows Default" as the sound scheme then click APPLY. Scroll down that list until you see Start Navigation. Change the sound that uses to NONE. Click APPLY again. Then click SAVE AS and call it "My Scheme" and then click OK.

    Hi Brett,

Thanks for your reply, you asked....
What show under "Complete Navigation "? If a sound is listed, change that option to NONE too.

There is nothing listed there (None)

The only sounds are for "MSN Messenger and Norton Integrater (mouse click and mouse over) Also Netmeeting has sounds but not the noise I keep hearing...

There's one called "Power Management" sounds are for "Critical Battery Alarm and Low Battery Alarm.

For My Schemes I have put "No Sounds" AND,

I still have the sounds when I open a web page with graphics, so I don't know what else I can do, maybe not use my speakers....

Anyway, Thank you again Brett, it's good of you to try for me.

    Sweep.

You don't have any third party software which could be causing the sound - maybe a popup or cookie blocker that plays the sound to notify you each time something is blocked?

Also, open Regedit and navigate to:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\EventLabels\Navigating

What is shown in the right-hand pane?

    Hi Brett,

I thought you must have been stumped on this one and then you come up with the answer..... your very good...

It seems the Popup Blocker was the culprit... I guess I now know that I have to suffer Popups.. or turn off my speakers.

Do you know if there are any Popup blockers that don't make noises every time they block one..???

Thanks again Brett, I really appreciate your help,

    Sweep

    I thought so too :D

I don't use one so can't help. I'd have thought though that there'd be an option in the program allowing for sound notifications to be switched off?
