updated java just now, firefox now psychotic

just downloaded a java update i was prompted to. didn't get any specific info on the update, i just know that after i downloaded it, firefox is now insane. my homepage changed, and i cannot visit any sites, just whatever i have bookmarked. my scroll is now on the left side of the page instaed of the left. on a different computer now because i cannot visit new sites or click any links. please tell me there is a bug. (i was only prompted to this update about 15 minutes ago.) any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

 

what java program are you running, JRE?
As of November 5, 2009, the latest version of Java is 1.6.0_17 (a.k.a Version 6 Update 17)
if you just got the update notice today, it may have been bogus, and you downloaded a virus or spyware. scan your machine.
