Resolved 1610 scanner won't scan

I have a new compaq computer presario with Vista and a 1610 scanner. I can't get the 1610 to scan to my computer. I have installed the disk twice. My windows Xp had no problems getting pictures . What is wrong?

It has Critical Update to Correct a PC to Printer Communication Issue for your printer
when used with Vista.

Download the update and after installing it - reboot your PC and see if this took care of the problem.
