The problem I'm having with my mouse is the left click button sometimes double-clicks when I click it once. It gets annoying like in my email when I just want to close a message and it ends up also closing the email program.

I realize the possibility that it just may simply be the mouse button wearing out, but if it isn't, could there be another reason this is occurring? I already lowered the double click speed in the mouse properties all the way down with no change.

    Thanks for any help.

Have you gone > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Expand + Uninstall > OK out and Reboot to let it find mouse and reinstall again? Neil.

I would try another mouse before digging too far into the operating system since this seems to be intermittent - unless you see some pattern, such as it only happens with your email program.

Also, in Control Panel > Mouse, there is often an option to switch the primary buttons - some left-handers like this. It may be awkward, but for testing purposes, telling.

Had the same problem with a mouse at times it would double click. Found replacing the mouse fixed the problem.

Typically, it's the return spring that weakens - since it would seem the actual switch has no problem making contact.
