Explorer prolblems and msn problems

Hi, i am having a few problems with my internet explorer, i am running windows explorer 7 with crawler as my homepage, but most of the time i go to any website, except this one ironically, it tells me sumthin about the certificate errors and about 3 options to choose from, the one that says not recommended is going through to that site??

Another thing is my msn, i usually use it every day, but the last few days it wont let me sign in to it, it just goes to a troubleshooter and that wont even work, it may be an msn problem that you cant help me with but i though i would try anyway, i have followed all the steps through the trouble shooter that is has on there but still nothing????

 

Are your time and date settings correct?

Have you ran an antivirus / antimalware scan to make sure you don't have any problems in that respect?

Yeah i did the time and date thing and ran the antivirus yesterday...should i run it again?? It hasn't let me sign in for at least 3 days now. Also my contrast bar from my screen settings wont go away from the screen lol, i swear i feel like throwing my computer right out the window sometimes lol!

 

Hi Missa give this a try.

Open IE7

Click Tools

Click Internet Options

Click the Security tab

Click the Internet icon

Click Custom level

Locate Display mixed content

Click the radio button next to Enable

Click OK to save your changes

Restart Internet Explorer (Close and Open again)

That worked it didnt come show it that time. Thank you!! Do you have any idea about msn or my contrast that wont move off my screen??, Actually it didnt, i just tried facebook, as that is a site i use every day, and it came back up?? But than i just tried to go back into facebook again and nothing,,, it didnt pop up??

Have you thought about upgrading to Internet Explorer 8?

The only time I have seen this problem is generally when there is a problem with the date and time settings.

Well i just downloaded IE8... and no problems yet, but one question, how do i get a shortcut on my desktop i have one in my start menu but it has add-ons disabled, i try to manage then and enable them all but it doesn't make a difference!

 

there is no interent explorer in start< All programs

 

i did it lol, i went to set program access and defaults and found it, thanx evan!! You dont know how i can get the contrast to get un stuck from my screen do u lol!

 

A lot of times this happens when the date and time in your computer is not set correctly.
Maybe not this time.

 

yeah well i do have alot of problems with my date and time, sometimes when i turn my computer on i have to go in and change the cpu settings, than my computer loads and the time is wrong again, i keep checking it to see if its right! I have no idea why that happens, but about before with msn, i can now sign into it!

 

open the computer and change the battery
It's a little round battery, like a watch battery, on the motherboard.
Then set the date and time.
If you don't know how to open it, have a computer friend help you...
The battery is dead and it can't remember the date and time.
Once the time is set, you will have better luck with certificates and warning messages.
your computer thinks that it's 1990 again, and it thinks that everyone's certificates are invalid, because of the incorrect date.
This should help.

You need to learn to work on your own computer even if you learn a little at a time, don't be scared of it. Changing the battery is not that hard a job. It takes about 10 minutes.
