    Sw1941:

Some newer computers, particularly the Dell Dimension series, contain a
feature that activates USB devices when the computer is turned on. The
computer will send an activation signal to compatible USB devices, including
memory card readers, then pause at a black screen to allow the device the
chance to acknowledge the signal. USB printers with memory card readers may
also print pages containing references to USB functions as well as other
    random text during this pause.

    Solution one
Contact Dell Technical Supprt for troubleshooting and a resolution to the
issue. Solution two is avaliable in the event that Dell Technical Support
    cannot be contacted.

    Solution two
To prevent this issue from occuring, complete the following steps:

    1. Shut down the computer.

    2. Unplug all USB devices other than a keyboard.

    3. Start up the computer. When the brand logo appears, press the F2
key to enter the System Setup (BIOS) program. If the Windows screen appears,
wait until the computer finishes starting up, then shut down and try again.

    4. Press the Down Arrow key to highlight Integrated Devices (Legacy
    Select Options).

    5. Press the Enter key.

    6. Press the Down Arrow key to highlight USB Emulation.

    7. Press the Space Bar until the option displays No BOOT.

    8. Press the Esc key twice to go to the Exit menu.

    9. Ensure that Save Changes and Exit is highlighted, and press the
    Enter key.
