I restored my address book from Vista/Windows Mail to Windows 7/Thunderbird. My contacts landed in C:\users\ron\contacts, the wrong location. It appears I have to convert them to either CSV or LDIF in order to import or move them to the correct location. How do I do this?

You said you restored the address book...Did that fail to work?

Do you still have access to Win Mail so you can attempt an "export" to CVS?

I restored my address book successfully but unfortunately it ended up in the wrong location - C:\users\ron\contacts. How can I move it to the proper location - C:\users\Ron\Appdata etc.

Who says CONTACTS is the wrong folder for CONTACTS;)

Do they work - can you use them when sending mail?

I said it. My contacts folder is located in another place in my computer. I believe it should be in CC:\users\ron\appdata\roaming\thunderbird\profiles\p5490m03.default\abook.mab.
    Correct?

Not that simple. I had to first install Windows Live Mail to get to the .wab files then import them to TB converted to .mab files. Even then, when they arrived the setup was not good. I've spent way too much time on this problem and have decided to just enter my contacts one by one to people I email fairly often.
Thanks to everyone for their input.

In your first post you said:
That implies that you'd already got the address book into Thunderbird. Perhaps you meant to say, "I am attempting to get my address book from Vista/Win main into Windows 7/ TB ". ?

You don't need the WAB file at all. Thunderbird recognizes only 2 file types for importing address books, .CSV and .LDIF.

WinMail address book can export .CSV files. Thus you'd need to export as CSV and import that CSV into TB address book.

All import export operations are covered here:
