Hi, when I received the notice to download SM 2.0 I did right away. Couple days later I checked "about Seamonkey" and it read 1.1.1.8

So I downloaded ver 2 again. Checked next day and it still read 1.1.1.8 Both downloads appeared to go perfect. I'm really confused on this on.
    Thanks

I went through this, on another thread. I had my 1.1.8 with a shortcut called SeaMonkey. When I installed SM2.0, I did not see another shortcut, and when I clicked on it, I was opening SM2.0, but had found no way to open 1.1.8, although still installed. It is possible that this was done intentionally, although it seems that you have the opposite problem.
I right click|rename the SeaMonkey shortcut to SM2.0. Then I went to the SM folder, and sent to the desktop( created a shortcut0 for 1.1.8. I found a seamonkey.exe shortcut, which I renamed to SM1.1.8, and made sure that it was using the correct profile (-p profilename). Both versions worked fine. In my case, 1.1.8 was locate in Program Files|mozilla.org|Seamonkey, while 2.0 is in Program Files|Seamonkey.
Do you have two versions installed? You should have 2.0 installed in the path which I mentioned. Don't forget to rename the shortcut, to avoid problems.
As far as I know the 1.1.x series is not likely to be updated, and 2.0 is the most secure. I got rid of 1.1.8. The take home message is that you cannot get all the necessary info from About:Seamonkey.

Do I have 2 versions installed? I never removed 1.1.18 before installing 2.0.
I looked where you said.. Program Files|mozilla.org|Seamonkey..found the seamonkey icon which launched ver 2.
I also looked in program fliles/seamonkey..found the seamonkey icon which launched ver 2.

With that said, guess there is no need to create shortcuts and rename. I'll check every so often if ver 2 is running not 1.1.1.8

Can I delete 1.1.1.8 without loosing anything like mail etc?

I had v.1.1.8, and, then installed 2.0. As you have found out, both versions can coexist. Now, what would happen if 1.1.8 was uninstalled, first? I don't know if 2.0 would have gone into the same folder used by 1.1.8, or, I would have not mattered.
The fear of losing mail is unjustified, and this goes back to the day that Profiles came out. The Profile is not removed when the Program is uninstalled, so even if the 1.1.8 profile would not be picked up by 2.0, all files wouldbe available. The 1.1.8 profile should be in this path: C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\mozilla.org\SeaMonkey\Profiles.
    The 2.0 profile is in: C:\Documents and Settings\Fulvio Perini\Application Data\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\Profiles.
Probably you mean "uninstall" when you say "delete ". Sure, uninstall 1.1.8, but don't expect that the 1.1.8 profile will be picked up by 2.0.
I have my 1.1.8 profile in a special folder on the C drive. If nothing was done, both profiles would be called "default ". You can find all you need about profiles, here.
In other words, the Seamonkey project has been handled very poorly. It is a volunteer project done part-time by some excellent developers, but still as a side project.

Guys, Also remember that I went through this same thing once when I had two different version of SeaMonkey installed at the same time and when I clicked on the Icon for the new version it kept indicating the old version was being loaded.

The situation existed that the old version was being kept in memory because the preload box had a check mark in it and was being kept in memory.

Once I made sure neither version was being preloaded, I would get the correct version to load when I clicked on the Icon for a given version.

Hope this makes sense to you and you understand what I am saying.

I might also add that for some reason SeaMonkey has a bad habit of hanging up in memory or I guess that is what it is doing because I have noticed on shutdown or a restart that some times the shut down screen shows it is dumping SeaMonkey 2 or 3 times.

    Ray,
