   Ever since i put ie8 on my computer it will not allow me to download other programs such as avg, it says security settings will not allow it.

   And when you go into security settings and fix this - what happens?
   
   IE Tools->Options->Security tab->Allow Downloads

   All boxes are checked correctly, been on to it all day, compared them with laptop settings.
