Hello--I hope someone can give me a idea why all of a sudden when composing a email on live.com my screen become gray. I still can send and receive emails. I've looked mostly everywhere to try and find a solution for the background only in the email box typing the message is gray. This is strange when I go to my send box the message becomes white background like it's suppose to be. Hopefully this has happen to others in the community.
I have Windows XP Pro SP-3.
Thank you guys I appreciate it.
    Garry

    Hi Garry!

Hope all is well with you?

What browser are you using to access your live mail?

If it's Internet Explorer have you noticed that you have just been updated to Internet Explorer 8 recently?

I'm not familiar with live.com, but in Thunderbird > Tools > Options > General, you can set the background colour. I think you can do it in Outlook and Outlook Express too. Has someone changed your background? This might be totally irrelevant to your problem but it's all I could think of. Neil.

Hello tashman847 & retiredlearner--Thanks for your responses! I just recently upgraded to IE8. I don't think that is the problem but I certaibly could be wrong on that. Do you recommend to go back into IE7 and see what that might do.

retiredlearner--Window live.com is hotmail I believe all is the same with them two. I don't usually use Outlook or Outlook Express. I'm the only user on my PC and I didn't change the background. I tried that in live.com with the colours. The screen is totally gray -- there's no way to highlight it or at least I don't know how! The gray only appears on the typing of the email -- when I open a email the background is white
colour. I'll go to the outlook and see if the gray comes up when typing a email to send. I'll get back to you.
    Many thanks

A few people have been complaining about this problem.

Here is a web page you can visit:

    Optimizing your browser for Hotmail

Some people say these steps have helped resolve the issues, others have not had so much luck.

Try this and come back to us. If this does not resolve your issue we can try resetting your browser but this is a last resort.

    Tom :)

Thank you tashman847--Yesterday I went through the optimizing the browser IE8 but it didn't help. I just got to thinking about the background colour again and on IE8 they have in the internet options where the fonts are--well just for going through the motions with this I seen in the background colour was in fact gray. Don't ask me how that was changed but I know I didn't do that. I'm the only user on this computer like I was saying earlier. I feel so stupid--wondering how that all of a sudden change to gray. Oh well enough of that I appreciate all the replies--you all have a beautiful day.
Thanks to you retiredlearner for suggesting the background colour.
