I have recently bought a WRE54g wireless range expander. i'm setting up the expander, but every time i do it it always says at the end of the setup that it can not associate the AP in repeater mode. how do i disable this mode? My router is a d-link di-634m

    Hi welcome to WindowsBBS :)

On your router what type of security are you running is it WPA or WEP?

What is the IP address of your dlink router?

What version of the Linksys WRE54G have your brought (V1 or V2)?

Dlinks use the ip 192.168.0.1, the linksys uses 192.168.1.240. Try changing the expander's ip to 192.168.0.240.

Hi you would not change the Linksys Range Extender to the exact same IP as your router.

It needs to be on the same subnet.

    Change it to 192.168.0.240

Also in my previous post I asked you what version of the Linksys Range Extender you have is it version 1 or version 2.

Also what type of wireless security are you using on your D-Link router e.g WEP or WPA?

Well the version 1 can only work with WEP security but that is inconsequential as you are using WEP.

Unfortunately if you don't have a Linksys Router, setup of this unit is a littled involved.

You definately need to check the Linksys website and upgrade the firmware of unit to the latest available on there website otherwise this can cause issues.

No problems once you have done this if you still have no joy pop back there are some other things we can go over to troubleshoot the problem further.
