I was just offered the SeaMonkey 2.0 update and it sounds like much more than a few tweaks. Has anyone tried it?

I have been testing SM2.0 for the past three years or so (very slow development), so it was an easy task. In first place, SM1.1.8 is installed in this path: C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\SeaMonkey. SM2.0 is installed in a different location: C:\Program Files\SeaMonkey. In my case I had a working profile for both versions, so it was an easy task to get to the proper profile. I had a problem, though. both version's shortcuts are named: "SeaMonkey ", so if I wanted to use both versions, I had to rename the existing shortcut. "SeaMonkey" was opening only 2.0. So, I have SM1.1.8 and SM2.0. Each opens with its own profile. I copied the Plugins folder of 1.1.8, and Paste it into 2.0.
But since you did not have 2.0, you will be offered to import the data from 1.1.8.
If you want to use only 2.0, 1.1.8 will have to be uninstalled.

Why would anyone but you want both versions?

    Sea Monkey 2

I have been using it since it was offered a week or two ago. No problems. Works like a charm for me.

I have been using SeaMonkey since #1.1.12. I downloaded the betas 1 & 2 to test them after I found that the #1 series wasn't working well for me any more. My profile was saved & all of my information (bookmarks etc) were saved. I also tested both release candidates. I find SM 2.0 final faster & far more responsive than Firefox on my computer. The only thing it compares to speed-wise is K-Meleon or SRWare Iron & they are both 'shite off a shovel' fast as we say in my country!

The only thing that bugs me is that if I set it as my default browser, when I click my mail (Yahoo!) desktop shortcut, both IE 8 & SM 2.0 open virtually simultaneously !

No one should have to use IE 8 unless it is absolutely necessary. ;)

I just put on SM 2. I'm not sure I like the changes it made. How do I revert back to the previous version?

Sorry, the theme had changed so everything looked weird. I like the modern one not the default. It's all now back to normal. ;)

It may be a Yahoo problem, which is more Microsoft-centric than you would think. In theory, if Seamonkey is selected default, properly, this should not happen. May I assume that it did not happen with SM1.1.x?
Of course, this would not happen, if Yahoo mail was selected in a Mail client, and not a browser. I can set up Yahoo in my Thunderbird, and Seamonkey mail.

It's a possibility, but Firefox works fine with it when I set it as default. I am using Vista & I was told that SeaMonkey #1 couldn't be made the default on Vista, so I didn't try! ;)

I think it is more likely to be a SeaMonkey bug.

I installed 2.0 without any real issues. I was surprised when I uninstalled 1.18 and the 2.0 shortcut disappeared. I just created a new one.

Did you read my first reply (message#2)? I made a big point of the shortcut business.
As for Yahoo, in the browser, it may help to use the Yahoo Mail Notifier addon.

I read your shortcut issue, but it seemed different than mine. Today I found that 2.0 takes a long time to launch and there is "no form fill in" under tools.

I missed your comment to my first post. Why two versions of Seamonkey? Although I have been testing SM2.0 since it first came out as a nightly, so, I know a lot more about it than most. But, I still wanted to see how the two programs behaved, side by side, with the option of dropping 2.0, if unsuitable. I removed 1.1.8, yesterday, after I got everything from the 1.1.8 profile to 2.0's (with exception of the, still incompatible addons, of course).
Secunia kept bugging me that 1.1.8 was insecure.
As for Form Fill, I never had to click on a button,to get it going. It is supposed to work automatically. But, I hardly ever use Form Fill. I know that there is an addon, which is, still, incompatible. Addons are not part of the program, and the author have the responsibilty to make them compatible, if they care about them.
Does start slowly? Maybe. It is based on Firefox which is a slowpoke.

I miss the form manager, but not enough to revert to 1.1.8. I couldn't find an addon, so I hope someone can come up with one.

I hope that any of the addons which I use, will be available soon. But, I am not holding my breath.
