I have a 7 computer peer-to-peer network, 6 of them run win 2000 pro the other is windows XP HE. I've set up the sharing on each of them so that certain folders are only shared with certain users. This works fine on all the win 2000 pro computers, but on the XP HE on the sharing tab there is no permissions option, I either share or don't share the folder. Is this just not avalible with Home Edition? or is there some way i can turn it on? or does anyone have a suggestion of how i can do the same thing without that option? Thanks alot

Many of the security features you see with 2K and with XP-Pro simply don't exist on XP-Home.

For one thing, simple file sharing is the only option with that OS.

A thing you can try so you can at least see what options you have is boot the XP-home PC to safe mode. For some odd reason, you can't see the folder security tab when running in normal mode.

If you need all the usual 2K security features, you will have to buy a copy of XP-Pro and upgrade the PC though.
