Hi, I have an Acer Travelmate 6592 laptop with Vista Business and XP Pro loaded from new , it has been set up to use XP , can I switch to/open Vista so I can load Windows 7 without a full re install.
    Thanks Des.

You need a boot manager - I suggest EasyBCD which I currently use on 2 dual boot systems (XP Pro/Win 7 Pro x64 and Vista Business/Win 7 RC1)

It sounds like you cannot boot to Vista - i.e. there is no boot menu to choose which OS when you boot up?

Is this the Acer which was the subject of a long thread some time ago re. installing XP - Vista was preloaded?

If you can't boot to Vista I would load EasyBCD to the XP partition and see if it picks up the Vista install.

Are Vista and XP on separate partitions? If so there should not be a problem booting from the Win 7 DVD and electing to format the Vista partition and install there. Then Install EasyBCD on the Win 7 partition and set it up there.

Hi Pete .I have run "SIW" ,it does not show any partitions , but there is about 8 gig of the "C" drive used , which I can seem to find out what for. it is a dual core, they say they are released with Vista Business and XP preloaded and apparently you can open which ever one you prefer first up, but I thought I would be able to find it inside but not as yet, so I will get Easy BCD downloaded and see what I can find,
    Thanks again . Des.
