Is it possible to save/record streaming audio or video?
I like to listen to radio shows from the BBC and others and I was wondering if it is possible to save programs to listen to in the car.
    Thanks,
    Lewis

    Yes, several methods:
    1. 3rd party software specifically for this.
    2. Windows sound Recorder, records the audio, then save & burn to a CD.

  3. to hide this advert.

    Thanks again TonyT,
I found it but it seems to be limited to 60 seconds.
    I am using XP pro.
    All the best

    Hello,
The quality of the files u could get if u use the windows sound recorder to record whatever you need isn't that good anyways.
Maybe u should try using one of those apps especially made for recording streaming audios. You should a look at Radiotracker, that might help u.

I saw many posts about recording streaming audios, but still isn't it illegal? Or we shouldn't consider this point anymore....

Here are three programs I use frequently.
    1) Audacity: This is for audio. It is a free open source program. Once you install and configure it you can "record" anything that is playing over your speakers. Unfortunately it, because of the nature of recording live, takes as long as the audio portion lasts. This is not a download option.
The other two programs I use for video are
    2) Realplayer. It has an extension that will work in IE and Firefox for downloading videos.
    3) and Downloadhelper located here http://www.downloadhelper.net/index.php

Like those is Radiotracker, like that guy said above, it's a streaming program as far as I saw, it records music from a lot of radio stations, but still, my problem is: how legal are those streaming programs?
