Spyware has infiltrated my computer. An address continually appears in automatic configuration script in internet options settings. I delete it but reappears when I restart. The offending address has text found in windows/system/ossproxy. Please make it go away.

Have you already tried running ad-aware?

    Ossproxy:
OSSPROXY is the system tray icon for the "Marketscore Internet Accelerator ". A "market research" program intended to track your Internet usage and buying habits. Not required - and has no install/uninstall program. Though you can try this. I'd still try first with ad-aware however?

Chances are that spyware hasn't exactly infiltrated, it was likely pre-installed there from the get-go (you are running windows right). Ad-aware will stop some spyware, but it won't iradicate it completely. The only sure way to get rid of all spyware is to stop using Windows alltogether. But, if your not willing to go that far at least you could stop using IE, WMP, and go ahead with ad-aware on to of that. Open source software is the only kind of software that is verifiably spyware free. Try Mozilla maybe. RealPlayer has spyware, but it dosn't keep track of individual users like WMP does. I really wish you the best of luck in getting spyware-free.

Ummmm. I'm not sure I'd agree with you BuckDeath. Nor your advice what was asked for? mgun simply asked how to deal with a file, not how to get rid of his operating system?

I installed ad-aware but the scan did not pick it up. Tried Daizy's "this ". Marketscore still persists.

Is it worth trying to delete Ossproxy using DOS?

You're welcome, glad it worked for you and thanks for posting back. Spybot has frequent updates (click on "Online" button in Spybot). I use both it and Ad-aware regularly to clean up spyware junk.
