    Hi all,

I'll keep this short. A friend of mine was recently laid off and I am helping him with his resume. I am getting it to where I want to be, but there are two vertical lines, grayish in color in the document I want to get rid of. It's a resume, so it has to look good.

I uploaded the Word document in question to my own website here. Please have a look. It's safe, I promise.

The two lines I am referring to are the vertical line above his name on the 1st page and the vertical line to the right of "Education" on the 2nd page.

What are these and how do I get rid of them??!!

    Thanks!

    Chris

OK, they go away in that view, but they still show up there in both "Print Preview" and when actually printed. Can they be gotten rid of permanently? Thanks!

I downloaded your document locally and the only solution I could find was to copy/paste the separate "elements" (or what the proper terminology is in english) to a new document.

There is something strange with your document. Even if I only open it and immediately close it, word prompts to save but ... ... it shouldn't. (By the way, I'm using Office XP/2002.)

I checked the properties of the document and found that you have used "Contemporary Resume.dot ". To test, I created a new document using that template and guess what ... ... the lines were there!

When, as I told in my first post, I copied/pasted the separate "elements ", I did that to a new document using the template "Normal.dot" and it worked. I had first tried to high light all of it (ctrl+shift+end) and copy/paste but it brought the lines with it.

My conclusion is that "Contemporary Resume.dot" is buggy!
