unable to use windows disk defragmenter

    When trying to use 'windows disk defragmenter' get message . .file does not exist-is not an mmc console-created by a later version of mmc-may not have sufficient rights to file. system is xp, ie 7.

    If the suggested fix does not work you are no worse off than you are now :)

    disk defrag not working

    tried resolutions to fix disk defrag, none worked . . .but when typing 'regsvr32 dfrgsnap.dll', got no response . . but inputted 'regsvr32 dfrgui.dll' message was command succeeded. Now how do I solve windows defrag aforementioned problem?:confused:

    Did you follow the instructions to reinstall the defragmenter?

    As a workaround - and a better solution for defragmenting anyway - look at Auslogics
