Flash drive Write Protection

I have a PNY 8GB flash drive. I used this drive to fix puters, all files i need r on this drive, can access these files, copy them, but can't write to the drive or format it anymore, says it is write protected. I have new programs I use now that I can't put on drive. It got write protected workin on customers puter, the puter since was junk-trashed-destroyed. I have tried everything, Low Level Formater, Registry Entries, Apple Puter, Kill Disk, Nothing works, flash drive still write protected. I use Vista on all my puters.

Can anyone help PLEASE!!!!

I don't want to buy a new flash drive if I don't have to.

 

Here are two things to try:

1. Plug in your device, click the Windows Orb (Start), type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter, then right-click the drive graphic of the device and select Change Drive letter, then change it to one nearer the end of the alphabet.

2. Change these registry keys but create a system restore point first, just in case you have problems. Note that the keys do not necessarily exist, don't create them as it's probably a different issue.
A.
Click the Windows Orb (Start), type regedit, press Enter and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies, double click on WriteProtect and change Value Data to 0 (zero).
B.
Now go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\StorageDevicePolicies, double click on WriteProtect and change Value Data to 0 (zero).
C.
Lastly go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\StorageDevicePolicies, double click on WriteProtect and change Value Data to 0 (zero).

 

Thanx, I was able to change drive letter, but in registry i don't have these folders
StorageDevicePolicies
I have
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Storage
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Storage
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\Storage

with just
(Default) REG_SZ (value not set)

in all of them

 

I think drive is damaged. It is now reading no media, 0MB

WOW!! What a PAIN!!!

I got it to recognize flash drive with all its folders. At first on this drive there was a folder that is damaged or currupted, Over time there is now 6 folders that r damaged or currupted.

I can not locate the REG folders u specify, what i did locate is listed above.

Have you eliminated a malware infection? If not, run your 'anti' programs.

The only other thing I can suggest is TestDisk, which has gained a good reputation for repairing bad sectors and partitions.

Download the correct version from here After downloading, unzip it, double-click testdisk_win.exe to run it and follow the prompts to repair the device. It doesn’t need installing.
