I have a problem that most likely is simple but I am stuck. I run XP. When I am in Explorer and look in a folder there are icons for my BMP, Gif, etc. types of files but none for JPeg files. There used to be one that said JPegnow there is just a nonspecific system icon. I know I need to do something in folder options and file types but can't figure out how to get that icon back. I use ACDsee as my default photo viewer but don't think it changed it because I had that program before the problem showed up. A minor thing, I know, but I would like to change it back.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jim in WV

When I go Explorer->Tools->Folder Options->File Types and scroll to JPEG there is no edit button or change icon button. All I get is a radio button for "New" and "Change" which takes me to "Open with" therin lies the problem.
Thanks for the reply - that was where I was headed but found no way to edit the icons.

Is it possible you change the extension of the Jpeg ? Does it still show as a picture if you double click on it if not try changing the extension to .jpeg Do this by

Going to tools > Folder Options > View > then uncheck the Box that states "hide known file extensions. "

Now you will see the name of your file jpegnow.xxx(being whatever it is now) Change this back to Jpeg and see if that helps !

Sorry it took so long for me to get back. Hide known file extensions was not checked. Yes they still show as pictures when double clicked - there is not a problem accessing them. They still have names like photo1.jpg. I also changed my default photo viewer back to the one that comes with Windows and it made no difference.
    Thanks for the help,
    Jim
