I just bought a laser printer and connected it to my computer. It works great but I would like to print from another computer on the network. I can find it when I add a printer but access is denied. I get a box asking for a password.

I tried holding control when right clicking properties but the security tab doesn't come up.
    Both computers are running XP.
    Any ideas?

What happens when you type in the password to the pc it's plugged into?

The remote computer finds the printer in the list. When you click on it the password box comes up. Hit enter and a message comes back. "Windows cannot connect to this computer. Operation couldn't be completed "

Have you enable File and Print Sharing on the pc where the printer is plugged into?

OK. I can go from the printer comp and access the remote computer files. But when I try to go from the remote I get access denied. Where do I allow access?

Maybe it's the wrong way... But could he give the printer an IP address, and then let BOTH computers connect to it over his network, creating a TCP/IP port on each computer to the address he gave the printer?

I think it's a permission issue. I just don't remember where to find it. Both computers have printers. I can go one way but not the other.
