Starting today (10/10/09) I'm getting these popups from WinPatrol every 60 seconds or so: ================================================ | WinPatrol New Program Alert | A new auto Startup Program has been detected. This program will run each time you login or restart your machine. | Do you approve the addition of this program startup setting? Press YES if this program is expected and acceptable. ================================================ | The startup program mentioned is AVG 8.5 (free) Resident Shield. I click on NO every time, but every minute or so the same WinPatrol alert window pops up again. I must assume that if WinPatrol wasn't running in the background that this program would start up with Windows, when I don't want it to. I've renamed the dll in question, _avgrsstx.dll_, to _avgrsstx.dll.del_, and in AVG 8.5 I've set Resident Shield to _Inactive_ and set my two drives (C and D) as exceptions. But this popup keeps appearing. Is there a way to stop it, short of uninstalling AVG 8.5? Your help will be appreciated. Frank D

Well, while waiting for a reply, I figured I'd reboot. And after about 20 minutes now, there have been no further popups!

Looks like rebooting could be a cure for some minor PC ailments.

So, if no further popups I'll consider this thread closed (or unopened).
