Uninstall Windows XP Prof.- reinstall home edition

    I need to uninstall windows xp professional and reinstall windows xp home edition. I need to know the steps I need to take in order to do this.

    You can't do this as far as I know.
    You'd have to backup all of your important data and then start with a fresh installation.

    Why are you wanting to do this?

    I agree what would make you want to install home if you have professional.

    If your not worried about it just put in the home disc and format the drive and install new OS but I wouldn't get rid of professional unless you have a reason.Here are directions. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316941 Perform a clean install if your not worried about the info on the machine

    Well, OP stated:
    and you can do that just fine. OP didn't state he/she wanted to 'downgrade' (ie keep all programs & files the same way as you would when doing an upgrade).

    OP also didn't state that she was willing to loose all of her data either. So when in doubt - proceed cautiously.
