I bought a laptop 2 months ago and I still can't figure out where to get the password to start it. I saw it run before I bought it But wasn't told it needed a password. It is a Toshiba Satellite PS181C-00CET, can anyone point me in the right direction please? :(

Thank you Whiskeyman, I did try that in the very beginning, but call me stupid I bought my laptop at the local flea market and have been there many times since trying to locate the seller but have had no luck. Most everyone says I got taken, I'd like to think the old guy just forgot to give me the password. I still hold out hope.

Is this a Windows password or a BIOS password... A BIOS password will be shown as soon as you turn on the computer, while the Windows password will be required when you see the Windows login (welcome) screen.

Look up your model at the Toshiba website. I can't see that number you quote, so check if it is correct and search for "all models ", the search is set for recent models. Get the system manual/user guide at least and check through it, it should talk about a BIOS password if one is set.

There will also be other helpful information for when you get it going.

NO. You are trying to get access to a BIOS password.

BIOS passwords in laptops are hard to reset, I will provide a link for you, but first:

I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU DESTROY YOUR LAPTOP ION THE PROCESS.

Read the whole document & decide if you want to do it. If it was me, I bring it to a Toshiba repair shop.
