MS Office 2007 operating over VISTA Home Premium, SP2. This issue has probably surfaced in this forum as it has in others. On a regular basis, I receive the error "Microsoft Office Word has stopped working ". Other forums refer to editing the registry by deleting certain keys which get rewritten when Word starts again. I've tried these fixes and they work for a time (Maybe two or three launches of Word). One thing that seems to work when I must get into Word is to open Excel first. If I do this, 8 out of 10 times Word will open successfully. Any fresh ideas or knowledge of conflicting applications? I'm open to any ideas.

    KB7GP,

Microsoft does have an official Windows Vista Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/d5r9v3. It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assistance and feedback.

    Hi KB7GP,
There's a remote chance this is not the fix for your situation either but wanted to pass it along for something to think about anyways...Recently I recieved a call from a friend who was using Microsoft Word for two years, and it also stopped working...He was recieving an error message saying something about retrieving the saved documents in safe mode, etc,etc...To make a long story short, the Microsoft Word after two years had expired and once he upgraded it (at a nice cost of $150.00) his problem was fixed...Like I said, it might not be the fix for yours but if it too came with your computer and it has also been two years and no other fixes appear to be correcting it, maybe you might want to look into doing what I directed my friend to do ???

Microsoft Word "expired "? I definitely will look into this. I didn't buy directly but received Office on my Dell Computer and went through all the set up and registration stuff. Anyhow thank you. Just never heard of Office software "expiring" once registered. Guess I'll have to read the EULA's more closely.

    Hi,
Some things that come with computers like McAfee or Norton I do believe give you x-amount of days to purchase it and when you do it's good for a year before you have to renew it and that's why I was mentioning it...I'm not sure if that's the cause in your case but it was with a friends computer that I had refrenced in my previous post about his problem with Microsoft Word. Either way best to you and if you can, keep us posted...

Many OEMs will give you a 120-day evaluation version of office, so yes, it can expire.
