I'm running a Dell E510, P4 3.0GHz system. I'm using Windows XP MCE 2005, SP3. Recently, I've run into an issue where I can't get IE7 to open. I can't even get a window up. When I double-click on the icon on the desktop, I get the hourglass for a couple of seconds, and then nothing. Same thing if I use the Quick Launch icon, or the start menu icon. I tried to open IE with no add-ons, and got nothing. I was reading another thread about going into the Control Panel and resetting IE in the Internet Options tab, and didn't even have that option available. I tried the inetcpl.cpl command in the Run dialogue box, and got nothing. If I uninstall IE7, I can use IE6 just fine. When IE7 is reinstalled, once again no joy. If anybody out there has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate them. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi slycer2002. Well since IE7 doesn't seem to work even when you uninstall and reinstall it, try installing Internet Explorer 8 and see if you can get IE8 to open.

I had actually thought of that, and then got sidetracked (I have a four year old...'nuff said) and completely forgot. Thanks. I'll give it a try and let you know.

IE8 installed and opened fine. Not sure what the issue with IE7 was, never had any issues with it before. Well, other than your standard Microsoft issues, that is. Anyway, thanks for the help. Hopefully, IE8 will play nice.
