Hello: is there an app out there that can measure the actual transfer speed on our home C/S LAN, while a file is actually being moved? Free or cheap is all I'd like to find. XP(pro) or OS 10.4, but if there's opensource (Linux) I can prob. wing it there too. Thank you.

The only way to tell transfer speed is to move data from one computer to another. Thats the same way an app is going to do it. It's easiest to just copy a large file from one computer to another. Windows will tell you transfer speed.
