I've got a 64Bit Home Prem. Vista laptop that I'm considering creating a 2nd boot partition. My XP Desktop is set up that way because I have a scaled down, streamlined OS for high-end DAW work. What are my pros and cons? Please keep in mind the 2nd partition is not your stnd garden party use of resources.

    Thanks,

I'm asking if there are any "gotchas" I should be prepared for if I use the Recovery DVD (to create a 2nd Primary partition) that came with the laptop, since folks are too cheap to just give you the raw OS disks with the deal. I only mentioned XP because that's what I'm using on my desktop.

I thinking about taking advantage of the 64-Bit technology with my pro-audio I/O interface that just got 64-Bit drivers. I don't have the 64-Bit app to run it on...YET, but it's available.

As I said, I just wanted to see what booby traps, if any, lie in wait, since I'm the boob that they always catch.

OK! Steve, I just read your "how-to" link. Thanks. That will certainly help when the time comes. Once I started reading it, it occurred to me that since this situation demands high speed processing, and thruput, it'd probably be advisable to install it on a 2nd ext drive.

    Anyhoo, thanx for the tip.
