    Hi all,
I am an admin of a lot of 2003 servers, mostly SP2, some SP1.
Every few weeks, we get one that the RPC and Terminal Service services have hung. No one can remote onto the server and if I look at the services from another server if shows that all options to stop, start, restart are greyed out for both services.
There is nothing of any relevance in the event viewer for the time frame of this issue.
Any users that do have RDC sessions show the status as "disconnected" and they cannot be forced off.
Anyone know a way to restart these crashed services without rebooting?
i have the recovery options on both services set to restart the service on first and second failures and a reboot on the third, but it never restarts or reboots.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,

    Eoin

Is svchost host still running. Both services are dependent on it.

I'll have to wait until I get another one with this issue. We tend to get them every couple of weeks. Trend is to arrange a reboot, so RCA is tricky when you can't replicate it.

Yep, just got another server this morning with the same issue. svchost.exe is still running.
