I have Windows 98 Second Edition and i can not get my new Toshiba 4GB USB 2.0 Flash drive to work. I have gone to the web site to try to download the necessary driver but the only drivers they have there are for older version flash drives. After that i have tried several things that i have picked up on-line from other advice threads but none of them seem to work. My computer can recognize that it is there but lacks the driver.

Can anyone direct me toward a site that might have a driver i could use, or perhaps someone has another way of getting this done that i have not yet come across.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Look at the System Requirements for the drive. If Win 98 is not supported you are probably out of luck. If I was looking for a USB drive for Win 98 computer, I would check those System Requirements before buying it. Manufacturers are rapidly dropping Win 98 driver support. :( Although I am rather surprised that many are still offering it.

Connect it to a Windows XP computer. Look in Device Manager under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Locate the drive, note how it's identified and see if you can identify drivers. Use the terms in websearches.

If System Requirements says it is not supported, you are probably out of luck, but good luck anyway.

    Hi SYN,
    Google universal usb win98
The universal driver should handle all flash drives.
    Best wishes, zzron
