Hi, i have two internal drives on my computer. i decided to reformat the drives and re-install windows on one of them. This appears to have gone OK. However, upon checking, the C drive appears under My Computer but not the other drive(D) does not. How do i get the computer to recognize the second drive . I have not installed anything on the reformatted computer yet. Thanks Blocka

Check in Disk Management to see if the drive needs formatting. It may be listed as "Unformatted space." Start > Run > type diskmgmt.msc and click OK or press enter.

Thanks. At the top of the disk management window it says therer is a C drive. in the lower half of the screen it shows Disk 0 , 74.53gb Unallocated, with a black bar line . What would be the next step to solve this problem about getting that drive recognised. Thanks for your help Blocka.

Also check to see if you made the second drive "Active" Can you see it under "Disk Management" in the Control Panel>Computer Management>Administrative Tools>Disk Management? If you can see it there, right click on the D: drive and click on "Mark partition as active "

Right-click it and select "Format. "
