    Hi All,
I want to run a batch file before Mini setup starts. The purpose of this is to inject the computer name into the sysprep.inf file.

Does anyone know how to specify a command to run before mini setup starts?

    Thanks.

I'm only a novice in this area, but this gave me some insight

That is only to prompt for a computername (and it doesn't seem like an easy or recommended fix ).

Changing the computername involves a restart, which may stop further automation of the process.

Do you use the Setup Manager Tool? From the few times I've used it, I think you can add a script(s).

It probably has variables, like if you are automating addition to the domain, where they say it needs to be removed, the name changed, then re-added.

I would look at that <computername><computername> section, but then again, maybe I wouldn't, for the sake of avoiding any bugs in the resulting machine.

Everything seems to be during or after when Sysprep runs, not before.

If you are stuck, search or ask at the TechNet site/forums (we generally focus on end-user questions).

Yeah it needs to run before mini setup starts. It is a program which reads the mac address of the computer and then compares it to a data file, and then the matching name is injected into the sysprep.inf file. When Mini setup runs it renames the computer with the correct name and then joins it to the domain.

If anyone else has a solution or an alternative I would be very appreciative. Thanks mattman for your response.
