Go to Tools>Options>Send tab and put a check mark in "Send Messages Immediately ". This should bypass your Outbox.

Oops! Didn't read your post quite right. In Outlook 2000 go to Tools>Options>Mail Delivery tab, and put a check mark in "Send Messages Immediately when connected ".

If you right click on the "Send..." line, and left click on the "What's This" button, it will give you a short explaination of the purpose of this function.

Sorry it took me a few minutes to get back as my connection to the BBS crashed.

    outbox problem!

    nice effort john but....................................
tools>options thats ok but no tab for mail delivery. i'.ve checked under the tabs to no avail.
i sem to remember seeing this setting on another pc but not sure.
perhaps my version or configuration is different?
    i'm using outlook 2000 sp1

this is exactly the same point the previous poster (july 2002) managed to get to. he also could not get mail delivery tab which leads me to believe it may be a version issue?

Well that's a strange one. I have Outlook 2000, SR1, Ver. 9.0.0.5414 and there is definately a "Mail Delivery" tab under Tools>Options.

Have you gone to the Microsoft Office Products update site and updated your Office 2000 recently? If not here's the link: Office Update

Try and see if this helps.

    mail in outbox

i've upgraded to outlook 2000 sr1 ver 9.0.0.4527. no joy with this either.
i'm beginning to think it must be some configured setting that has not been set.
my product is part of office 2000. been to the microsoft knowledge base & nothing of help there!

    just to make sure :
    under tools>options the tabs
    are
preferences/mail services/mail format/spelling/security/other/internet email (i think this last tab would be "delegates" if you were on a network).

how would this compare to your situation?
    cheers

Under my Tools>Options the tabs are:

    "preferences/mail delivery/mail format/spelling/security/other "

On your Outlook you may find the "Send messages...." check box under the Mail Services tab. Also look for anything to do with "Accounts" or "Mail Account Options" or something similar. You may have to go into some of the "Advanced" buttons if there are any.

You could also see if there is anything under the "Mail format" or "Other" tab.

Looks like there are some subtle differences in versions of Outlook.

The problem is the configuration, if you're configured for MS Exchange then you don't have a Mail Delivery tab.

Do you have more than one mail service selected?

    Do you use Remote Mail?

I've been looking and can't find anything but those possibilities so far, haven't checked at MS yet.....

I agree with KevinSaul. You may be configured for MS Exchange. I use to have Exchange at work and the Options tabs were as you noted in your post above.

May have something you can do under Mail Services or Other Tabs. I can't remember what was what on Exchange options and don't have access to Exchange anymore. Maybe someone else can fill in here.

Back again!!! Ok it looks like your MS Outlook "IS" configured for MS Exchange and it does not have any option to bypass the Outbox that I can find. I just reconfigured mine from "Internet Only" to "Corporate or Workgroup" and got the same Options tabs as you have. If you "DO NOT" connect to a "Corporate or Workgroup and use Microsoft Exchange Microsoft Mail 3.x, 3rd party e-mail services or any combinations of the above, plus Internet e-mail" you can reconfigure your Outlook for "Internet Only ".

Go to Tools>Options>Mail Services and click on the "Reconfigure Mail Support..." button. This will bring up the reconfigure wizard. Read the info in the dialog box before proceeding to see if any of it would give you a problem. Be aware that this proceedure requires a restart, so save and close anything you have running that you don't want to lose.:) Also the Window Installer will run several times when you start MS Outlook. Let it do it's thing.

I went from Internet only to Corparate or Workgroup without a problem. Now will try to go back. I also have OE5.5 which I use as my main e-mail appy.

Let us know how you make out.

    JohnB

Edit: Ok, I used the "Reconfigure Mail Support..." and went back to "Internet Only" with no problems. I checked it out by sending an e-mail to my Yahoo address and sending on from my Yahoo to my Telus.net addy. All worked OK.

So if you want to do the "Send Messages immediately when connected" it looks like you will have to configure for "Internet Only ":D

Time to hit the sack, its after midnight here. Goodnite all.

    John.
