    Hi all,

I noticed in MSCONFIG the Win.ini & Sys.ini has a ";" in front of the 16-bit app support (with a check mark in front of it).

Does the ";" mean it's not supporting 16-bit apps?

My sys.ini and win.ini show the same, so I would assume that is normal and would guess that 16 bit is not active.

The semicolon in the Win.Ini and System.Ini files means the following line is a comment, meaning nothing is done with it. It also is a way to disable a certain line from loading, as it is turned into a comment.
This doesn't mean 16 bit applications will not run on your computer, but you may have to jump through some hoops before it does.

Well, it means that exact line is a comment. Not the following lines, since they don't have a semicolon in front.

If you take note, it looks like this:

It is just a comment to show you what the items below are used for.

    Hi all,

Thank you. I thought that 16-bit apps were "rem "(ed) out by the check mark and semi colon in front of it.

So, the "; for 16-bit app support" is just a comment?

Will deleting the check mark in front of 16-bit allow my 16-bit apps to work without having to jump through hoops?

No, it will most likely cause an error, since

    is not a command.

The only part that is commented out is the line which has ; in front of it.

    Sorry Arie but,

surely removing the check mark (in msconfig) from a comment won't cause adverse effects?

Ah, I missed the part about msconfig.

No it won't have any effect. Nor removing the semicolon from win.ini / system.ini itself it seems...
