Please help I am desperate! This is what has happened: I have a Dell XPS Vista 32 bit Home, with Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE graphics card. I decided, stupidly, to try to upgrade my graphics driver from the 2007 version to the 8/17/09 version (it was approved for my card). After I did this, I got black screen at startup. At first, I did not get safe mode, but after a bit, I got it and rolled back the driver, but it rolled back to 2006 version. This worked until my husband did Microsoft update, then it started up black screen again. Fortunately, I got it back to safe mode after awhile, and decided to do a system restore to a date prior to any of this mess. I did this, and it came up great, but I had to shut the PC down to install VoIP, and now I get black screen, no safe mode at all! I have been trying for hours!

The diagnostic lights on the front of the PC all seem normal, but when I start the PC, I do not see anything at all, so I can't do a repair, or boot to disc with my copy of Vista or anything. I know it is not the monitor because I put another flat screen on the PC and it also gets black screen.

Can all this activity ruin my PC? Can a graphics driver upgrade ruin the PC? Oh, and right after I upgraded, the monitor said "this monitor does not support ___x___ resolution." Well, I got the driver back to the one the PC likes, but now it won't work!

Any help would be appreciated, I am pulling my hair out. Thanks!!

If this is an graphics card you might try to plug the monitor to the VGA plug on the mother board rather than your graphics card and see if that works to get a screen then uninstall the other drivers completely then reboot and install the new drivers again.

Would this work if the graphics card is integrated? I see only one analog and one digital plug. How do I plug the monitor into the motherboard? Sorry for my lack of knowledge.
