I purchased a new Toshiba Satellite A305 with Windows Vista a few months ago. Since day one, I have had time sync issues. I can manually go into the settings and re-sync the time, and this works. The time remains accurate while I am on the computer. However, when I turn off the computer and reboot it the next time I use it, it remains on that date and time. Then, I have to re-sync the time. It's an ongoing process.

Has anyone else experienced a similar occurrence? Any suggestions on a permanent fix?

Since it's been happening from day one, I didn't think it could be a battery issue, but I guess it could have been bogus from the beginning?

Thanks for any help in advance.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

I would take advantage of the warranty service that came with it.

Does the time remain synced in the BIOS (I believe it's F2 to enter the BIOS on a Toshiba)?

If so, then it's a Windows problem (I've read about ACPI issues with this system on the web).
If not, then there's a hardware issue with the system that will require a trip to the repair shop.

If its new you should just return it and get a new one, if it was a preowned comp though then a mobo battery might have died/ gotten loose requiring you to unscrew the back. BUT since its under warranty just return it for a new one.

Julie, you need to reply and let us know what happened when making the settings suggested.

Have you set the Time Zone?
